11/01/2012 Colombia: Progresses in Human Rights welcomed. Mário David MEP
Mário David MEP, Rapporteur of the European Parliament for the Trade Agreement between the European Union and Colombia and Peru, is visiting Bogota, in Colombia. Yesterday, he met with Julio Roberto Gomez Esguerra, President of CGT (General Confederation of Labour), the biggest trade union confederation in Colombia.
The main topics of the exchange of views with Julio Roberto Gomez Esguerra were the protection of human rights, the trade unions and labour rights and the provisions of the Trade Agreement on these areas.
Mário David began the contacts regarding the draft of his Report with the Colombian trade union movement, which confirmed the progresses implemented in Colombia in these domains.
Today Mário David meets the Colombian President, Juan Manuel Santos.
