Syria: EPP Group deplores irresponsible behaviour of the BRICS at UN Security Council. Mário David MEP
The EPP Group strongly condemns the irresponsible action of the 4 BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) and South Africa, after their vote against/abstention on the UN Security Council Resolution criticising the criminal attitude of the Syrian authorities which, instead of dialogue, prefer to use lethal force against their own people for expressing their legitimate aspirations.
At a time when a "new world order" is being built-up and when it is expected that the BRICS will assume a new role, this is extremely disappointing conduct. As regards the Lebanese position, unfortunately, it's not surprising...
The International Community, the United Nations and the Security Council have been once again discredited with this vote, which fails to uphold respect for the basic and fundamental rights of every human being.
