Mário David re-elected Vice-President of EPP

The Member of the European Parliament of PSD, Mário David was re-elected Vice President of EPP for a second three year mandate with 57% of the votes of the Delegates to the EPP Congress that ended yesterday, in Bonn.

As in previous elections, Mário David kept the fifth position between the 10 Vice Presidents elected, on a total of 15 candidates. There were more than 71 different Parties in EPP Congress, 1500 Delegates and guests from 39 countries. Mário David considers this re-election "the recognition of all the work that has been done concerning Europe". The fact that PSD has a strong position within the EPP "is linked to the firm commitment and defence of the values that we stand for, based on respect for the dignity of each citizen, and on a policy based on social market economy, in which the main concerns are fighting the unemployment and the climate changes."

Mário David is the forth Portuguese Vice President of EPP, after Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Alberto João Jardim and José Manuel Durão Barroso.
